The Sumela Monastery, also known as the Virgin Mary Monastery, is located in the province of Trabzon. Located among the historical places of Trabzon, the monastery is located 300 meters above the valley. The monastery, which was adorned in the 18th century, was well preserved by the Ottoman Empire. The building, which was made more magnificent by adding buildings in the 19th century, has been the subject of many travelers' works. The monastery, which has many rooms, continued its function until 1923.
