Palace of Versailles (Ile-de-France, France)

Information about Palace of Versailles

The Palace of Versailles, or Versailles for short, is the country's most important royal palace in the city of Versailles, with a population of 86,000, located in the Ile de France Region of France.  The city, 20 km south west of Paris, is a rich settlement.  Versailles became the center of the political power of the Kingdom of France from 1682 when the 14th Lui carried the royal court from Paris to 1789, when the royal family was forced to return.  For this reason, Versailles is not only a structure but also a symbol of absolute monarchy due to the old regime (ancien regime). It is very important for France and world history.  Designed by landscape architect Andre Le Notre.  Its gardens are worth seeing as well as the interior of the palace.
Architectural Features of Palace of Versailles

Versailles Palace is described as the end of French baroque architecture and the beginning of the classical style.  The history of the palace almost summarizes the French History.  While the palace was being built, the toilet and bathroom were considered as an unnecessary area and those sections were not built.  So there is no toilet and bathroom in this magnificent palace.  It is among the rumors that the smell of the Palace of Versailles is unique from all the palaces in Europe.  Until 1768, there were no toilets in the palace, and nine toilets were built in the palace, which was solved by the French Revolution.  Of course, these nine toilet rooms were valid only for the noble king and dynasty.  The gallery of mirrors, whose interior decoration was made by Le Brun, brought a soft baroque atmosphere to the palace.

The mirrorless parts in the gallery are covered with green marble.  There are also many paintings and works of art in the Mirrored Hall, and some of them serve as history museums today.  The chapel of the Palace of Versailles, one of the most successful examples of its period, did not boil into the building as a structure.  The light of the oval half oval chapel comes from the gallery of mirrors and kelerestori windows.

Magnificent Gardens of the Palace of Versailles

One of the most important features of the Palace of Versailles is the size of its unique garden.  There is a pond of considerable size in the garden, which draws attention with its landscape.  The general view that the garden, which coincides with the back facade of the palace, is also key for city planning is dominant.  In addition, there are parallel roads between trees in the garden of the palace, separate flower and water gardens, staircases and pavilions bordered by greenery pruned in the same direction.  The Palace of Versailles is home to thousands of curious tourists every year as it is a unique structure in terms of interior architecture and garden arrangement.

Recommendations About Palace of Versailles and Gardens

You should try to go to the palace as early as possible because the tails created for security are too many.
There are many restaurants around the palace.  However, food fees are too expensive in these restaurants.  Instead of giving an average of 25-30 pounds to a menu, if the weather is nice, you can have a few picnics in the parks and gardens around the palace, bringing a few things to eat.
First the interior of the Palace, then the Gardens of the Palace are visited and the most recent Marie Antoinette estate is visited.  However, if you start your trip in the opposite direction, you can get rid of the crowd a little.

Get the Paris Pass Card (Museum Card) so you will not have to bother with long queues for the ticket.
Most tourists do not visit Dauphin's apartment.  However, Dauphin's room, which is a beautiful place, is one of the sections of the palace worth seeing.
The palace is generally closed on Mondays.
