Where is Serengeti National Park?  Information about Serengeti National Park
Serengeti National Park is a large 30,000 square kilometer ecosystem area located in the eastern center of the African continent.  Serengeti National Park takes its name from the word Maasai, which means endless plain.

Serengeti National Park, one of the famous regions of Africa, stretches from Tanzania to the southwest of Kenya.  Throughout the Serengeti National Park, there are protected areas protected and maintained by the governments of Tanzania and Kenya.  Serengeti National Park has the largest mammal population in the world and is the most popular safari region in Africa.

What climate is seen in Serengeti National Park?

The height of Serengeti National Park ranges from 920 meters to 1850 meters.  In Serengeti National Park, generally warm and dry climate is seen.  During the year, there are two rainy seasons: March and May, and October and November.

Serengeti National Park is divided into two parts.  These regions are woodland and grassland areas.  There are rare and few trees in grazing areas.  There are also small rivers and plains in the grazing areas.

The expansion of Serengeti National Park is blocked by the Ol Doinyo Lengai Volcano, which is the only active volcano in its region in Tanzania.  Ol Doinyo Lengai Volcano sprays carbonatite lava, and when this lava type comes into contact with air, it turns white.  When it rains, the ash turns white and turns into a substance rich in calcium and as hard as cement.

The southeastern part of Serengeti National Park extends to the mountainous terrain of Ngorongoro.  In this region, there are plains covered with trees and short grass.  70 km west of the region, suddenly a forested land covered with acacia trees emerges and continues to the Victoria Lake in the west and the Loita Plains in the north.

The region is covered with granite and gneiss rocks known as small hills in South Africa.  The biggest reason for these rock formations are volcanic movements.  The place known as Simba Kopje is a popular tourist area.

The African continent is divided into two!

What kind of animals live in Serengeti National Park?

Live species such as blue african antelope, zebra, buffalo, lion, elephant, giraffe, gazelle, hippo, cheetah and hyena live in the Serengeti National Park.

Due to the drought and cattle plague disease in the region in the 1890s, there was a serious decrease in the number of animals living in the Serengeti plains and especially in the African antelope.  In the mid-1970s, the African antelope and buffalo population were revived.
