Jellyfish Lake (Eil Malk, Palau)

Divers are strongly encouraged to visit the Jellyfish Lake in Palau.  There are two isolated populations of sea creatures living there.  The environment is very comfortable for them, the population has reached more than two million people.  Jellyfish are everywhere in the lake.  Creatures live there in large quantities, and most importantly, they are absolutely safe for humans.  In the years of evolution, the cells that ignited jellyfish cells disappeared completely so that divers can swim there without fear of getting tired.

Jellyfish Lake, Palau A magnificent lake is located in the eastern part of Eil Malk island.  It is 460 meters long and 160 meters wide.  According to what scientists believe, Jellyfish Lake appeared more than 12 000 years as a result of the movements of the Earth's crust.  Formation depth is about 50 meters.  Since its inception, separate lifestyles have been constantly visible there.  The most favorable conditions were for jellyfish.

The absence of natural predators in the lakes allowed the population to rise to incredible proportions.  There is no dense population in the world.  It is noteworthy that there are many similar ponds on Eil Malk Island, the main properties being jellyfish.  The largest among them is Sea Monster Lake, where swimming is allowed.  The lake is home to only two species of jellyfish, Golden, Mastigias papua and Moonlight, Aurelia aurita.  There is also a small fish and crustacean population.  It is recommended to visit Jellyfish Lake in the first half of the day, as its main residents are active, especially at night and until 2:00.
