Jeita Cave (Beirut, Lebanon)

Jeita Grotto is one of the most remarkable sights of Lebanon.  This is the complex of two large limestone caves with an overall length of about 9 km.  The lower cave was discovered long ago in the first half of the 19th century.  As caught by scientists, this cave was lived in prehistoric times.  You can go to the lower cave by boat as it is filled by an underground river.  It is important to note that the latter is of great importance.  It serves as the main source of clean water for more than a million local residents.

Jeita Grotto, the lower level of the Lebanese Cave is incredibly interesting, but the high-level discovered in 1958 looks more beautiful.  The main attractions are magnificent beautiful stalactites.  The height of some galleries of the upper cave reaches 120 meters.  Thanks to its excellent illumination, the underworld resembles a fairy tale empire reflecting its glory for hours.  In this cave, the largest stalactites in the world, its height is 8.2 meters.

The cave was discovered quite well.  In one of the caves, scientists found the ruins of an old foundry.  For tourists, the cave has been open since 1995.  Some of the caves are completed with an impressive lighting system and therefore look even more magical.  The trip to Jeita Caves turns into an exciting adventure.  Tourists can use the cable car to reach the upper level of the caves.
