Perito Moreno Glacier is located in the Patagonia region of Argentina.  It takes its name from Patagonian researcher Perito Moreno.  It is 80 km from the city of El Calafate, and it is the starting point of the city of El Calafate for visits to this glacier.

Perito Moreno Glacier is one of the few known glaciers outside Antarctica and Greenland and is a constantly growing glacier.  The reason for this is that the clouds coming from the Pacific Ocean could not cross the Andes and leave very strong rainfall here.

The glaciers stretching back 60 km go about 1 m per day like a river.  This causes continuous crackling and noise in the massive mass.  Perito Moreno, a huge mass with a height of about 60 m (almost Bosphorus Bridge height) and a width of 5 Km, opens into a lake named Lago Argentino where the end points are broken.  Every 4 to 10 years, big disruptions take place, and this nature show attracts thousands of tourists every year.  This event took place in 1988, March 2004 and finally in March 2006.

The glacier was named "Bismarc Glacier" with the name given by German Geologist Rudolph Hauthal, who previously discovered the glacier, and was later changed to honor the Argentine researcher Perito Moreno for his services.
